Chris Nikkel was born in The Pas and grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In 2003 he moved from Canada to Ireland to be with his wife, and has since lived in Galway and Belfast before moving to his current home in the village of Fahan, on the shores Lough Swilly. He splits his time between Winnipeg and County Donegal. A poet and non-fiction writer, his work has been published in Canada, Ireland and the UK. His first book of poems, entitled Every Landing Deserves Applause, is forthcoming with Ireland’s Salmon Poetry. He is currently completing his first book of non-fiction, a environmental memoir set in the boreal forest of British Columbia’s interior. Chris holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia, and a BA from the University of Winnipeg. He works in Canada for Five Door Films as documentary screenwriter and researcher, and in Ireland for 360 Production.
